Follow these steps

Steps to Writing American Dream Essay

Step 1

Familiarize yourself with the American Dream before you write your paper.

Choose a short story that addresses the American Dream.

Write about the way the story deals with the American Dream, and then search Literary Reference Center (Galileo Database) for literary criticism to back up your points.

Step 2

Think about the short story.

  • How does it address the American Dream?

  • What kind of attitude do the characters or author have about the American Dream?

  • Does the story present the American Dream as something achievable?

  • Have the characters in the story achieved the American Dream?

Step 3

Go to Literary Reference Center(LRC) to search for literary criticism.

You can also access LRC through Galileo >Databases A-Z>L>Literary Reference Center.

Search LRC with the title of the story and click on the Literary Criticism tab to find essays.

You can view an LRC video tutorial here.

Step 4

Download the APA template before you start writing.

Refresh yourself on APA style whenever you plan to cite a source.

Remember to include the author's name and year after a citation (Miller, 2011) and include the full reference in your reference list.

Use Citation Machine for your references.
